Thank you for your interest in PFM. As of February 29, our 2008 application period is closed. Though we continue to accept some applications throughout the season, they are evaluated on a case-by-case basis as time and market space allow.
Please note: at this time we are not accepting applications from bakeries or on-premise prepared foods of any kind.
For further details about our vendor selection criteria, please refer to our Vendor Handbook.
Thank you. |
Online Application Process |
- Before you begin filling out the application, read the Market Rules in the Vendor Handbook. Review the Criteria for Vendor Selection and Market Profiles to see which market offers the best match for your situation. (Hint: the largest, busiest market does not always offer the best opportunity for new vendors – talk to our Market Manager if you need help selecting a market).
- The application is available online. We are interested in finding the highest quality growers and artisan food producers who use locally grown ingredients to join our vendor community. The application is one tool we use to help determine the best fits for our markets.
- Please take the time to fill out your application completely and note the following:
- Farmers: List multiple parcels of land, and what is grown on each parcel.
- Business Structure: Indicate business entity ownership (i.e. LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.) and provide supporting documentation when appropriate.
- Products: Provide a complete list of all products you intend to sell. For farmers, this means a complete crop list. Vendors who wish to sell on-premise prepared or processed food products are required to have their products evaluated.
- New vendors: Please bring your product samples to the New Vendor Registration Meeting or to the office. Evaluation criteria are detailed in the Vendor Handbook. Please make sure that you list all ingredient sources on your application. Make a special note of which ingredients are sourced from a farmer and/or from whom and where they are procured.
- Copies of all Relevant Licenses: Depending on your product, there are different licenses and licensing agencies that may regulate your product. It is your responsibility to determine what licenses you may need and to submit copies of them to the market. We may be helpful in directing you to the correct agency; however, the agencies have the ultimate authority.
- Liability Insurance: Accepted Vendors are required to obtain liability insurance naming PFM as an additional insured. Please note: do not obtain insurance at the time of application– wait until your application is accepted. Insurance must be in place before your start date.
- Application Fee: Each returning vendor must submit a $25 application fee with their application (one application fee applies to one or all market days). New vendors will be charged a $35 application fee and new non-farm applicants will be charged $40. These fee helps to cover the time staff spends reviewing applications. Upon completion of your online application, you will be asked to pay your application fee using paypal (online) or by sending us a check. Your application will NOT be reviewed until we have received your application fee. Application fees are non-refundable.
- Sign and Date: Signing your application indicates your agreement to abide by the rules of PFM

Which Market is Right For Me?
|
Saturday @ PSU |
The campus of Portland State University on the south park blocks provides a picturesque backdrop for PFM's flagship market. Farmers and artisan food producers fill 140 stall spaces. Between April and December over 230 different vendors participate. During the height of the season 10,000 to 12,000 customers shop at this market each week. The typical market shopper is college educated, interested in health and nutrition and lives within 5 miles of the market. Chef demonstrations, kid's cooking classes and a line-up of fun festival days make this bustling market a special destination. PFM Saturday is now in its 17th season. |
Wednesday Downtown |
This midday market is a favorite lunchtime spot for downtown workers. Many shoppers walk from their offices to the centrally located market on the south park blocks behind the Arlene Schnizter Concert Hall, just 3 blocks from Pioneer Courthouse Square. Tourists directed to the market by nearby hotel concierges, neighboring daycare teachers with their charges, students on tour from the culinary academy and chefs shopping for produce for the night's specials all add to the excitement. Peak season customer counts average 4,500 with 45 Vendor stalls filled. The Wednesday market has been open since 1998. |
Thursday @ Ecotrust in the Pearl |
2008 marks the 6th year for this Thursday evening market, located in the growing Pearl district at Ecotrust (Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center). Shopping on Thursdays begins with workers from neighboring businesses and continues with Pearl residents as they return home for the evening. The Berry Festival in June is a favorite for Thursday shoppers and vendors alike. This market has 35 stall spaces and 2000 customers each week. |
Thursday @ Eastbank |
Launched in 2003, the market was born out of the Buckman Neighborhood Association led by neighborhood activists Christina and Tom Grace. It has quickly become an important community focal point for the area. Friends, families and neighbors stroll to the market on Thursday evenings to purchase farm-fresh produce, enjoy dinner and listen to an outstanding line-up of local musicians. The market is held in close-in southeast Portland on 20th between SE Hawthorne & Belmont streets. It has a wonderful friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Last season the market averaged 28 vendor stalls and 1500 customers each week. Several fun events are planned for 2008 to introduce more customers to this neighborhood gem.
