InFARMation (and Beer!)
Wednesday, May 12
5:30-8:30 pm
Roots Organic Brewery 1530 SE 7th Ave. Portland
Free

On the 2nd Wednesday of every month, Friends of Family Farmers hosts InFARMation (and Beer!) at Roots Organic Brewery. This is an opportunity to bring the issues that Oregon family farmers face onto the radar of urban consumers, and the community in general. This month’s topic is Restaurant Sourcing, Many Angles. Deborah Kane will talk about the online interface recently developed called FoodHub, a way that farmers, ranchers, and producers can connect with food buyers and chefs online, quick and easy. Leslie Cole, Food Day reporter for the Oregonian, will talk about how consumers can navigate restaurant menus and servers to determine if a restaurant is sourcing locally. Sarah Curtis-Fowley of Pacific Pie Company and two of her sources, rancher Joe Schueller of Rainshadow El Rancho Bison Ranch and one of her local veggie farmers, will all discuss their relationships, and what the barriers, joys, benefits, and struggles are when trying to source as locally and humanely as possible.
