As Executive Director, I will oversee operations and fundraising activity, and work with our Board of Directors to develop long-term goals for the market. I come to this position with 25 years of professional experience in nonprofit and for profit organizations, as well as six years in public service as a Diplomat and Special Agent for the U.S. State Department. Prior to joining Portland Farmers Market, I also served as adjunct faculty at Marylhurst University, was the Director of Development for Trappist Abbey and the Director of Marketing at Mary’s Woods. I honed my business skills during a 14-year tenure at IBM where I advised CEOs and senior executives of national grocery retail, healthcare and finance companies on strategic business process transformation and reengineering.

Since assuming the Executive Director responsibilities in late September, I have spent time at each of our four markets and have had the pleasure of meeting vendors and shoppers alike. I'll continue to do so through our remaining market season, rain or shine. I want you to know how much I appreciate your warm welcome and the enthusiastic support you continue to show the Portland Farmers Market.

Most sincerely,

P.S. I welcome your ideas, observations and suggestions about ways we can be the farmers market of choice for shoppers and vendors. Please feel free to contact me at maryjo@portlandfarmersmarket.org
