Petunia's Blossom

Lisa Clark claims cookie dough and homemade pizza were the first foods she ate on this earth, possibly within moments of her birth. Hyperbolic? Maybe, but also a fitting answer from a lifelong Portlander who grew up as part of a large Italian Family that “lived to cook and loved to eat”.

After a few years away at U of O getting a degree (Go Ducks), Lisa returned to Portland and decided to bake professionally. Inspired by her own experiences and frustrations in finding delicious treats on a restricted diet, Lisa honed in on vegan and gluten-free treats. About a year ago she started Petunia’s Pies and Pastries, selling and selling out her confections to enthusiastic supporters at Alberta Street’s Last Thursday.

For now, Petunia’s is a one-woman show, albeit one with lots of help from friends and family. Saturday’s PSU Market is the next step towards the goal of retail shop and wholesale accounts.
