Kids Cook at the Market

Enroll your junior chefs — ages 7 to 11 — in Kids Cook at the Market classes, where they’ll cultivate culinary skills and experience a cornucopia of farm-fresh foods. At Kids Cook classes, kids learn about the seasonality of food, meet local farmers, and prepare ingredients purchased fresh at the market. Classes include a guided market tour, hands-on instruction and recipes to take home so students can share what they learn with family and friends.

Classes are held at the PSU Market on Saturdays from 8:30 am to 10 am, June 17th through August 26th, 2017, and are $10 per class. Pre-registration is strongly recommended, as class size is limited.

Registration for 2017 Kids Cook classes will begin soon. Stay tuned for more information!

Market Play Zone

From May through September, our King neighborhood market offer activities for kids of all ages. The Market Play Zone offers little shoppers new things to do every week, Sundays 10 am to 2 pm. The activity schedule includes mini music workshops, make your own Mr. Potato Head, food-themed art projects, drop-in cooking activities, fruit and veggie bingo, and recess-style games to get kids moving. Check out our Events Calendar for upcoming activities.

Food Scouts

The Lents International Market is host to Food Scouts, a unique program for children between the ages of 5 and 12. Food Scout participants receive $2 in tokens each week to spend on vegetables, fruit and food-producing plants. The Food Scouts booth also offers hands-on activities each week focused on farms, food and fun. Food Scouts is a partnership between Zenger Farm and Whole Foods Market. To sign up, visit the Food Scout booth at market.
