The Portland Farmers Market proudly partners with The Portland Kitchen, a local nonprofit using food as a tool to build life skills with youth in a fun and creative setting, to provide instructors for the Kids Cook series.

The class instructor for 2017 was Samantha Petersen, who has been working in the industry for 10+ years. Growing up in California, she was inspired by chefs like Alice Waters and the farm to table food movement. After attending Merritt’s Culinary Arts program in Oakland, she moved to Portland to help open The Hazel Room, a local brunch spot. She has also been volunteering for three years with The Portland Kitchen.
