Spring is certainly in the air. Trees are blossoming, the days are getting longer and the farmers market is starting to fill out again with bunches of spring greens and fresh flowers. It also means that it’s time for COUNTRY Financial and Portland Farmers Market to kick off the market season with the sixth annual Reusable Bag Design Contest.
Portland Public Schools (PPS) high school students will get the chance to display their artistic abilities and illustrate this year’s contest theme, “From our Farm to Your Fork.” They are encouraged to include imagery inspired by farming, cityscapes, Portland landmarks and market goods such as locally-grown fruits, vegetables and flowers. More than $2,000 in scholarships is up for grabs to the students with top designs.
Back by popular demand: People’s Choice winner and Gallery Event. All entries will be on display at The Best Art Gallery in Portland, 1468 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211, and the community is invited to vote for its favorite design. The People’s Choice winner will receive a $250 scholarship in their name.
The reusable canvas bags will be distributed to shoppers at Portland Farmers Market events throughout the season. The bag contest will supplement initiatives to reduce waste and promote recycling at market locations.
Entries must be submitted to the address below by Friday, April 15 at 5:00 p.m. PST:
