Brand New Day

For those of you who prefer to eat your green rather than wear it, we've got you covered.

Things we know about Saturday:

It’s St. Patty’s day.

It’s the first weekend of March Madness.

It’s the first day of our PSU Market.

No matter how many weather apps I add to my phone, none will predict a warm, dry and blue-skied opening for our Market. (I’m not sure it’s an app thing.)

If you spend the day like I do: you’ll hit the market – get potatoes and cabbage, put the brisket/corned beef on low, watch enough basketball until your bracket is destroyed, drink a beer, take a nap and eat dinner. Basketball, local vegetables, meat and beer, what a day.

For those of you who aren’t interested in acting like a 20 year old (again), our Market will be diverse enough to offer you enough options so you can enjoy the first day of the season as you like. Over 100 vendors are setting up shop, old favorites like Gathering Together, Winters Farms, Sun Gold and DeNobles are applying an uncanny combination of knowledge, experience and technology to extend the fresh, vegetable season for food lovers.

At the other end of the omnivore spectrum, newcomer Pono Farm joins Highland Oak, Deck Family Farm, Pine Mountain, SuDan, Sweet Briar and Sexton Ranches.  Each have seriously delicious non-vegetables.

If you’re wondering what to do with the Market Bounty, Friend of the Market, Katherine Deumling – who is equal parts funny and knowledgeable – is hosting a class focusing on a Market haul and kitchen staples. The class based at her state of the art (and home) kitchen is relaxed and informative. Visit the Cook with What You Have website for more information and to sign up for classes.

Matt Choi confirmed Choi’s Kimchi will be on hand Saturday adding, “We really enjoyed our first year at the Market. We didn’t expect the reception we received and loved the sights, sounds, and smells every Saturday. We have been patiently waiting for the Markets return, and can’t wait to be back with the rest of the PFM family.”

Dave’s Killer Bread, Alma Chocolate, Divine Pie, Chop, the Draper Girls, Lauretta Jean’s, Heidi Ho and more favorites will be ready to go 8:30 Saturday Morning.  You can check out the lineup here.
