To our loyal and supportive shoppers: The Buckman market is now permanently closed and will not reopen for the 2016 season.
While our other farmers markets have experienced stable and in some cases growing shopper visits and sales over the years, the Buckman Market has experienced a consistent decline in shopper counts since 2010. As a result, vendor interest in the market has waned.
“We deeply appreciate the loyal shoppers who have supported our market over the past 11 seasons. Hinson Baptist Church has also been a generous and understanding landlord,” said Trudy Toliver, Executive Director of Portland Farmers Market. “We hope that our shoppers will continue to purchase locally grown and produced food at the People’s Farmers’ Market located at the People’s Food Co-op and at other area farmers markets.”
Portland Farmers Market operates just seven farmers markets across Portland, but there are more than 40 markets across the Portland Metro Area, several of them in the SE neighborhood. For a list of these markets click here.
