Portland Chefs Take Stage for 2016 Chef in the Market

Portland Farmers Market’s celebrated Chef in the Market series kicked off the 2016 season June 4 with a demonstration by Leena Ezekiel of Thali Supper Club and will continue throughout the season with a well-rounded lineup of Portland’s food experts, top chefs, market vendors and cookbook authors. These cooking demonstrations celebrate height-of-the-season market ingredients as they educate and inspire home cooks. Market-goers can watch these pros turn the market’s seasonal produce into simple, delectable dishes (and taste them) at 10:00 am on the center stage at the Portland State University Market on Saturdays June through October.

There are some new faces in this year’s line-up including market vendor Matt Choi of Choi’s Kimchi and Heidi Liebowitz of Souper Natural. Plus, Olympia Provision’s butcher/plant manager Josh Graves is returning on Saturday, October 22, for the last Chef in the Market event of the season to do a pig deconstruction demonstration.  Each demonstration will be hosted by an emcee. Market devotee Allison Jones is returning to host several dates, former DOC chef Jobie Bailey picked up several dates, and executive director Trudy Toliver will host once a month.
