Down to Earth

by Mary Closson

Want to learn some chef’s secrets for using local foods to take your meals from good to fantastic?

Join Chef Pascal Chureau, owner / proprietor of Allium in West Linn and the Brasserie Monmartre in downtown Portland as he teaches French-inspired techniques that anyone can use to work within a budget and still prepare meals that are healthy and nutritious for family and friends.

Nutritionist Karen McGeehan of Northwest Wellness Center in Wilsonville will also be on hand to provide a step-by-step approach to eating more healthful, local, in-season ingredients, as will market managers from the West Linn, Oregon City and Villebois (Wilsonville) farmers markets.

This event will support the Arts & Technology High School in Wilsonville. The high school students take a “Farm Project” class at the district’s CREST farm, where they grow all types of produce and learn about managing a farm. Chef Pascal Chureau purchases produce grown by the students and features it on his menu at Allium.

Bring your questions for the Q & A session. The event will include a cooking demonstration and food sampling. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from these exceptional professionals!
