Extended Through December 31, 2020: Use SNAP for Hot Food for a Limited Time

Vendors selling hot food at our markets will accept SNAP for a limited time, through Saturday, December 19.

Due to people being displaced by wildfires, the USDA considers hot food to be SNAP eligible in some Oregon counties through December 31, 2020. For PFM markets the last day to use SNAP for hot food will be Saturday, December 19.

Find hot food vendors at Shemanski Wednesday Harvest Market 11/25 and PSU Farmers Market Saturdays through 12/19.

Language from Official USDA/FNS letter:

Due to the power outages, and displacement from homes caused by wildfires, and effective immediately, retail food stores licensed by the Food and Nutrition Service and located in the following Oregon counties may accept SNAP benefits in exchange for HOT foods and foods intended to be consumed on retailer premises:

Benton, Clackamas, Columbia, Coos, Curry, Deschutes, Douglas, Hood River, Jackson, Josephine, Jefferson, Klamath, Lake, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Tillamook, Wasco, Washington and Yamhill
These special rules are in effect through December 31, 2020

When hot foods are purchased with SNAP EBT benefits through December 31, 2020, the purchases are NOT subject to sales tax, as the foods mentioned above are considered SNAP eligible during this period.
