Important update for our shoppers with SNAP benefi Important update for our shoppers with SNAP benefits!

There is an increasing likelihood that November SNAP benefits will be delayed until after the government shutdown ends.

To continue supporting our shoppers with SNAP benefits during this difficult time, Portland Farmers Market & Farmers Market Fund will provide $20 in Double Up Food Bucks or Produce Match per market visit for shoppers to spend on fresh produce, even if you have a zero balance on your Oregon Trail account in November.

To get started, bring your Oregon Trail Card and visit our info booths at our markets:

Everyone is invited to come together to discover & Everyone is invited to come together to discover & celebrate this special cultural event!

Día de Los Muertos, celebrated in Mexico and parts of Latin America, is a time to remember and honor the lives of loved ones who have passed away through offerings, food, symbols, decorations, and music.

We are honored to host community ofrendas at our weekend markets, curated by PFM staff members with a cultural tie to the holiday.

**All are welcome to bring pictures of their deceased loved ones to display on the ofrenda!**

Also, at each market, there will be multiple vendors with a direct cultural connection who will honor the holiday with their special traditions within their booths.

Come enjoy the festivities at our markets this weekend:

OREGON SNAP UPDATE:
If federal funding does not resume by October 31st, SNAP benefits for November will be delayed.
Once federal funding for SNAP resumes, these benefits will be issued retroactively in phases.
A delay in SNAP funding would severely impact communities in Oregon, families and farmers alike.

For shoppers looking to stretch their SNAP during this time, consider shopping with Double Up Food Bucks. Double Up is a program that helps shoppers who pay with SNAP double their fruits and veggies. There are several Double Up Food Bucks participating farmers markets and farm stands currently open in Oregon. Shoppers can still match any existing/rollover SNAP benefits with Double Up Food Bucks. Shoppers can also spend any existing Double Up Food Bucks they have at farmers markets.

If SNAP funding is delayed in November, Farmers Market Fund will provide emergency temporary support at Double Up Food Bucks participating farmers markets and farm stands for shoppers who use SNAP. We will be providing a full update on emergency temporary support on Saturday morning. To stay updated, follow us on social and/or subscribe to the newsletter!

Last year alone Double Up Food Bucks served over 80,000 Oregonians and supported over 500 farmers. Double Up Food Bucks’ success depends on Oregon communities having access to SNAP.
A delay in SNAP benefits means that families get less produce, fewer farmers get the support they need and our local economy weakens,

Now is the time to speak up! Find your federal representative and let them know how a lapse in SNAP benefits impacts you and your community.
