Matt's impact lives on through his company, Choi’s Kimchi, the love of the community, and all the lives he has touched. Matt’s celebration & grant fundraiser will be held at Choi’s Kimchi market booth, so please stop to: ❤️Honor Matt and his impact on the community. 🍽️Purchase traditional Korean dishes prepared by Matt’s family and friends. We are excited to highlight another fantastic gran We are excited to highlight another fantastic grant recipient: Walking Whale Flower Farm!🐋💐 WHO THEY ARE: Walking Whale Flower Farm is a flower grower located on a half-acre near Gresham, specializing in no-spray, low-till, vegan-friendly flowers. They offer beautiful fresh-cut bouquets from late Spring through early Fall, as well as dried flower arrangements through the end of the year, at PSU Farmers Market. You can find their booth at the south end of the market, next to the Viking Pavilion. HOW THE GRANT HELPED THEM: The grant helped them purchase necessary booth equipment like tables, a banner, tablecloths, and more. GROWTH: Since receiving the grant in 2023, this solo venture (previously named Sampaguita Farms) grew into a partnership under a new name (Walking Whale Flower Farm) that's expanded by an "order of magnitude". Receiving a grant during their first season as a business was pivotal in helping this farm gain access to an incubator that further supported their growth. WHAT'S NEXT: Finding a "forever" property to continue the business. Help support future emerging small farmers and food entrepreneurs like Walking Whale Flower Farm as they launch and expand at local farmers markets by contributing to the Matthew Choi Farmers Market Vendor Grant! Vivienne Culinary Bookstore will also be present, selling copies of the book! We're also excited to have Tim Wastell (a James Beard Award–winning chef and friend of the market) prepare his Radicchio & Black Futsu Salad, a recipe featured in the book. To celebrate our month-long fundraiser for the Mat To celebrate our month-long fundraiser for the Matthew Choi Farmers Market Vendor Grant, we are proud to highlight one of our wonderful past grant recipients: Cottage Hill Dairy! WHO THEY ARE: Cottage Hill Dairy provides farm-fresh, real milk alternatives for traditional dairy products. HOW THE GRANT HELPED THEM: The grant allowed them to showcase their products and successfully grow the business by providing funds for signs, banners, and equipment. GROWTH: Cottage Hill Dairy can now be found at five farmers markets, including year-round at PSU Farmers Market, and in 16 local stores! WHAT’S NEXT: They recently launched farmstead goat milk yogurt and plan to use goat milk for cream, butter and ice cream in the future!
