We are thrilled to add these diverse small farm and food businesses to our roster of vendors at King Farmers Market on Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm, now through November 22.
Read about the market’s 14 new vendors and their product offerings in their own words:
- ArcoIris Elixirs: A modern twist on Chicha Morada, a beloved Peruvian beverage, made from maiz morado (purple corn), a crop with origins in the Peruvian Andes. It has survived hundreds of years of colonialism and agricultural modernization. Revered by indigenous people as a “plant of remembrance,” the practice of brewing Chicha Morada is so old that no original recipe for the drink exists.(Find them at the market on the 1st Sunday of every month. They are also at PSU, Shemanski Park, and Kenton Farmers Markets.)
- Brainfreeze Treats Club: Hand-made, scooped-to-order ice cream and sorbet using local and thoughtful ingredients. Nostalgic yet carefully crafted flavors that speak directly to your inner child! (Find them at the market starting June 14 and every 2nd, 3rd & 4th Sunday of every month. They will also be at Kenton Farmers Market.)
- Cascadia Plant Company: Small home-based permaculture nursery providing edible and medicinal plants to residents of the Portland, Oregon area and the Pacific Northwest region. Plants include perennial vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruits, as well as self-seeding annuals. (Find them at the market during May. They will also be at Lents International Farmers Market.)
- Carbon Farm: A regenerative farm located in Dufur, Oregon, offering pasture-raised beef, chicken and turkey meat and chicken eggs. (Find them in the market starting in September.)
- Dee’s Farm: I am a local farmer who grows my own produce. My ingredients vary from eggplant to onions to tomatoes. My goal is to provide fresh organic vegetables at an affordable price. (Find them at the market starting in June.)
- Golden Age Kombucha: A full-flavored, bubbly probiotic tea drink that is far less vinegary than store-bought kombuchas, Golden Age is focused on environmental sustainability and on partnering with local green businesses and small, organic farms. (Find them at the market on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month.)
- Kaphiy Roasters: A small, passionate Portland-based coffee roaster dedicated to sourcing and roasting the finest beans from Peru, crafting small-batch roasts that showcase the unique flavors of single-origin coffees. They are committed to sustainability and supporting women coffee farmers. (Find them at the market on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month. They are also at PSU and Kenton Farmers Markets.)
- Little Bebu: A vegan company creating delicious, nutritious meatless protein patties made with many ingredients sourced from vendors of the farmers market. The patties’ flavors include: original, BBQ, five-spice, and occasional seasonal flavors. (Find them at the market on the last Sundays of every month.)
- MR Farms: Owned and operated by Maximina Hernández Reyes, a native of Oaxaca, Mexico, MR Farms offers an array of seasonal produce, eggs, honey, plant starts, and flowers directly from their farm to the market. Part of the Headwaters Farm Business Incubator program. (Find them at the market every Sunday!)
- Rose City Soda: Made in the Pearl District, our functional fruit sodas are made with real cane sugar, a five-spice blend, and local seasonal fruit without any artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. (Find them at the market on the 3rd Sundays of every month. They are also at PSU, Shemanski Park, and Kenton Farmers Markets.)
- Sunao Coffee & Cacao: Owned and operated by a woman born and raised in Peru, Sunao serves as a bridge between Peruvian cacao and coffee farmers and Portland consumers. Their chocolates are made from freshly harvested cacao each month in the Amazonas region of Peru, ensuring exceptional quality and authenticity. (Find them at the market on the 1st Sunday of every month. They are also at PSU and Kenton Farmers Markets.)
- Three Sisters Nixtamal: Officially launched in 2012, Portland-based Three Sisters Nixtamal makes organic corn masa using the centuries-old, nutritionally-enriching process of nixtamalization. Whole dried organic corn is cooked with limestone and ground in our molino, a stone mill made especially to grind wet nixtamalized corn into fresh masa. We sell the masa, tortillas and the nixtamalized corn for posole. (Find them at the market every Sunday! They are also at PSU Farmers Market.)
- Vorel Wines: Enjoy tiny-batch wines made from grapes sourced from all over the mighty Pacific Northwest. We implement a blend of old- and new-world techniques, with a dash of methods drawn from nearly a decade of experience in farmhouse and mixed-culture brewing. There is no fining, no filtering and no added sulfites. Just raw materials, the nuanced beauty of fermentation and many working hands. (Find them at the market on the 1st Sunday of every month.)
- Vorfredude Dairy Beef: I use retired dairy cows from local dairies for premium beef. Not only is this beef more sustainable because it’s dual-purpose, but it’s also more flavorful. (Find them at the market on the 2nd Sunday of every month. They are also at PSU Farmers Market.)
