Today, we warmly bid farewell to Katy Kolker, our Today, we warmly bid farewell to Katy Kolker, our Executive Director at Portland Farmers Market (PFM), as she embarks on a new chapter after five years of leadership.

We want to take this opportunity to celebrate her accomplishments and express our heartfelt gratitude for her service to PFM and the broader community.

Katy joined us in 2021 during the pandemic, demonstrating remarkable resilience and innovation. She successfully launched vendor support programs, expanded food access partnerships, increased grant revenue, and made notable improvements in staff retention and compensation.

Katy is leaving PFM to pursue consulting work that will allow her to serve the nonprofit sector more broadly while also spending more time with her family.

Thank you, Katy, for your commitment, compassion, and vision over the past five years. Your leadership has made a meaningful difference, and we are truly grateful for your contributions.

Taste their small-batch wines, crafted from a variety of grapes including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Muscat Blanc, Tannat, and Gewürztraminer, all sourced from the mighty Pacific Northwest.
In the cellar, Vorel Wines blends old and new world techniques with a dash of methods drawn from nearly a decade of experience in farmhouse and mixed-culture brewing. There is no fining, no filtering and no added sulfites. Just raw materials, the nuanced beauty of fermentation and many working hands. Striving to achieve an expression of time, place and technique. Simply meant to be enjoyed and, hopefully, to inspire.

Experience the rich umami flavors of Jorinji Miso Experience the rich umami flavors of Jorinji Miso at PSU Farmers Market this Saturday!

Jorinji Miso makes premium handcrafted unpasteurized miso, as well as koji (a key ingredient in miso), shio-koji, amazake, and pickles, using traditional methods. Their miso and products are produced from scratch and fermented locally, which can take 6 months or up to 5 years in the Portland climate.

There are only two businesses in Oregon (including Jorinji) that make miso and koji, so it's pretty special to have them join the market!

Jorinji Miso is owned by Earnest Migaki, a third-generation Japanese American born and raised here in Portland, and Yuri Migaki, a Japanese immigrant who moved to Portland in 2015. The business was founded in 1995 by Earnest and his first wife, Sumiko (who was also Japanese). Eighteen years after the business began, Sumiko suddenly passed away. Earnest lived alone for a couple of years and met Yuri in 2015; now Earnest and Yuri run Jorinji together.

Find Jorinji Miso at PSU Farmers Market on the 1st Saturday of every month.
Stop by their booth to meet their dedicated team, learn about their offerings, and sample their delicious, locally crafted fermented miso!

PRO TIP: get to their booth early - they have quite a loyal following, and they sell out of products!😀
